Last night at the ASCAP Pop Awards, Trent Reznor was honored with the Golden Note Award.
Unfortunately, Katy Perry and Bruno Mars also received awards.
But most importantly, TR shaved so he no longer looks like a homeless person.
Today, April 1st, marks the 3rd anniversary of the greatest Nine Inch Nails album ever made, Strobe Light. Produced by legendary musical genius Timbaland and featuring appearances by Bono, Chris Martin, Fergie, and Sheryl Crow, Strobe Light marked a new direction for Trent Reznor. Tracks like “Pussygrinder” and “Coffin on the Dance Floor” remain some of the best songs Reznor has ever written.
If for some stupid reason you haven’t already downloaded this masterpiece, get off your ass and GET THAT SHIT NOW.
I saw Nine Inch Nails in Frankfurt, Germany back in April of 2007. This was the height of the advertising campaign/ARG for Year Zero and my excitement couldn’t be higher. Aside from what was arguably the best NIN show I’ve been too (they played We’re In This Together, Suck, Reptile, and a bunch of other rarities), the might and absurdness of the NIN fan base was in full force that night.
Awaiting just about every person leaving the Jahrhunderthalle was this little gem of a flyer you see above. It was apparently passed out by a “pastafarian” NIN fan who even got the band to sign one.
That night will always be remembered by me for the amazing music, my nearly getting trampled by multiple drunks, me getting hit in the head by Trent’s water bottle, my pursuit of any USBs hidden in bathroom stalls (alas, there were none), Trent throwing his piano at the audience, and, of course, the reminder that pasta is tasty, and it will be eaten.
