Dear Iron Man 3…

[SPOILERS AHOY!]

I really, really like you. Don’t get me wrong. You were a hell of a lot of fun. And Robert Downey, Jr., man. YOU are awesome, sir.

And you’re action sequences were TOP NOTCH. And you made me laugh a lot.

But, man, you sure did take a massive dump on the Extremis story arc. MY GOD. I understand taking liberties with stuff (I know a lot of stuff in the comics wouldn’t translate well to the screen) but you really reworked the entire storyline here.

But that’s OK. It worked. It wasn’t the greatest, but it worked.

What REALLY worked me up was how you handled the Mandarin. You took one of the GREATEST Marvel villains (and arguably Iron Man’s greatest nemesis) and turned him into a JOKE.

And why wasn’t War Machine - oh sorry, Iron Patriot (another comic liberty) - featured more? Rhodey is in it a lot, but not in the suit. Why?

But you know what - fuck it. I still love you. You just have a few problems.

As a summer movie, you are everything I (and everyone else) want.

As a Marvel movie, you’re still pretty good.
